Little Nudges To Help Get You More Fit # 3

Posted on 13 September 2009 by Admin

As much as I love walking—to be honest it is my preferred form of cardiovascular activity—I know that lifting weights is vital.

Not only does lifting burn calories—just like walking—but lifting helps build muscle and the more muscle you have the more calories you burn even at rest.

Now, don’t let anyone tell you that fat does not burn calories, because it does, it just does not burn as many calories as muscle.

Another benefit to lifting is that you can totally reshape your body—want a smaller looking waist—make your shoulders wider.

BOOM!

Increased V-taper.

So my little nudge for this week is for you to start a lifting program.

You don’t have to go hog wild, besides doing so could get you injured, just get started slowly, and work your way into it.

If you are totally new to lifting find a good gym in your area and then ask around until you find a competent trainer—just because they are certified means nothing.

If you’ve lifted before—still ease back into it, and please whatever you do, don’t think you can jump right back into your old routine.

The only thing that will get you is injured.

As always—please consult your doctor, physician, or health care provider before beginning or undertaking any exercise program—and this advice was not intended as medical advice and should not be taken as such..

Bodybuildingandmore.com does not assume any liability for injuries incurred while starting, doing or proceeding to do said exercise program.

The New Rules Of Lifting—My Review

Posted on 05 September 2009 by Admin

Right off the bat I must admit that was inclined to like this book even before I cracked it open.

Why?

Because I saw that Alwyn Cosgrove was one of the authors.

And since I’d read Alwyn’s stuff in the past and liked what I read—I knew this was going to be a good book.

And it did not disappoint.

Alwym Cosgrove and Lou Schuler (who is the other author of The New Rules Of Lifting) did a wonderful job.

Why do I say this?

Simple.

They based the book around (as the cover says) six basic moves—the squat, deadlift, lunge, push, pull, and twist—along with a seventh—running or walking.

But they do not end there and tell you—O.K. now that you KNOW the six basic moves you should be doing—go do them.

No.

They provide you with routines for fat loss, strength, and muscle hypertrophy (growth)—they also give you a break in program to do before you begin the regular routines.

SOME POINTS

Basically, this book is a soup to nuts affair-if you really want to learn how to train—the right way—buy this book.

Seriously.

CONCLUSION

Please do not let my short review of this book turn-you-off- as I said above—if you want to learn to lift the right way—and get off of the no results express—

Buy this book—I get nothing for recommending it—I simply think Alwyn Cosgrove and Lou Schuler did a wonderful job—

So again—buy this book—you and your muscles with thank me later.
