Kai Greene and Other Thoughts

Posted on 09 November 2009 by Admin

I just finished reading Kai Greene’s column in Muscular Development (this months copy) and man I have to say that this guy is dedicated.

I know the other pros train hard, but Kai, in my opinion, took it to the extreme.

You know who Kai reminds me of?

Michael Jordan.

I say this because MJ came into each and every season, in incredible shape.

Jordan left nothing to chance when it came to winning.

Sure he probably outclassed the other players, and could have got by on his natural talent alone, but no, that was not good enough for MJ, he wanted to make sure that he knew he did everything in his power to win,

And win he did.

Same goes for Mr. Greene.

Yes, I know he only, if memory serves, got fourth, but and at least at the end of day, Kai can look back and say that he did everything in his power to win the Mr. Olympia this year.

Also, I would like to say this.

With his work ethic, Mr. Greene, chances are, will win a Mr. Olympia, before he is through competing.

And I for one hope that he does.

After reading about what he had to go through to get to the pros, he deserves it.

Which leads me to my second topic.

Branch Warren.

I know I talked about Branch not long ago, but I feel he is right up there with Kai in the fact that he is one of the hardest working pros out there.

If I remember correctly, I know Branch has had and injury and it would have been easy for him to say, oh well, I’ve had enough, but no, Branch continued to push on, and it got him a second at the 2009 Mr. Olympia.

I will say it again, that surprised me.

You know what would be awesome.

For everybody to come back next year healthy.

That would make for one heck of an awesome Mr. O.

Lastly, I have to give Muscular Development its due.

They always are showcasing the young talent in bodybuilding and to me this is great.

This is exactly what they should be doing, and hopefully it will get more people interested in bodybuilding.

That’s it for today.

Random Thoughts Of The Week # 1

Posted on 03 October 2009 by Admin

With all of the crazy stuff that happened over the past week with the Mr. Olympia and everything I’d thought I’d try and cover it all in this post.

And possibly start a random thoughts of the week post every Friday, depending on how much is going on.

THE MR OLYMPIA

Up first, has to be the 2009 Mr. Olympia.

I would have to think it is safe to say that Jay Cutler is a legend at this point.

Seeing as how he just became the first person to ever come back and reclaim the title after losing it.

THE 202 MR OLYMPIA

I think the 202 class is great although I must disagree with Kevin English winning, I think Dave Henry has a more pleasing shape and better legs but that is just me.

Overall though, you have to be happy for the guys, because if you were just not meant to be a two-hundred and fifty pound bodybuilder, now you have a chance to compete and show what you’ve got with a legitimate shot a winning.

THE BEN WHITE JOHNNIE JACKSON LIFT-OFF

This event, while cool for the fans worries me because you know there is going to be some impressionable kid out there who is going to try something like this and end up tearing all of his muscles.

RONNIE COLEMAN

I really hope RONNIE comes back next year and competes because it would make for one big time Mr. Olympia.

I was reading people’s comments on one of the most popular bodybuilding sites and while a lot of people were saying that Ronnie could never return to his best, however, I must say that I disagree with that sentiment because everyone was saying the same thing about Jay (including me) and look what he did.

DENNIS WOLF

The guy has to been really down about the recent Olympia where he placed sixteenth.

This was a guy a lot of people thought could win the Olympia (including myself) and while he still has time, I believe that he is still in his twenties or just turned thirty, you know this one had to hurt.

I wonder if Dennis is having trouble with his ultra fast metabolism while it allows him to eat whatever he wants in the off season and not get fat, it might be causing him to get too lean too fast when he his getting ready for a contest.

CONCLUSION

These were some of my thoughts from what happened this week.

I welcome yours.

Some Thoughts On the 2009 Mr. Olympia

Posted on 29 September 2009 by Admin

Right off the bat I must admit that I was wrong about Jay Cutler, the guy did what no other bodybuilder in history has or could ever do—he came back and won the Mr. Olympia after losing as the defending champion.

The guys back was up against the wall—and you know what—he nailed it.

You have to hand it to him.

O.K.

But what about the rest of the field.

Well the biggest shock to me was Dennis Wolf, the guy finished in sixteenth place!

Which I believe from looking at the score card is just another way of saying that he was tied for last place.

What a disaster for Dennis, I mean the guy came out like a house-of-fire and took the bodybuilding world by storm and now this.

Second biggest shock to me was Branch Warren.

To finish in second—in a lineup as loaded as this—that speaks volumes about the Mr. Warren’s work ethic and dedication.

I really like Ronny Rockel and I am glad he managed seventh—he should be very happy with that.

And it shows that the judges don’t automatically ignore smaller guys—or guys that don’t get massive exposure either on line or in the magazines.

Also, Melvin Anthony he slipped out of the top ten, but I still like that guy’s physique.

I was disappointed to see that Troy Alves finished tied for last place (at least I am assuming that what sixteenth place is) because Troy has a nice physique and nice lines, but maybe he will get them next year.

CONCLUSION

The Mr. Olympia is the biggest bodybuilding contest in the world and once again you have to give it to Jay Cutler.

The guys back was to-the-wall and he did what he needed to do.

And won the whole show.

Congrats.

Jay.
